Company Now Offering Improv Workshops for Women



New York, NY – The fully improvised live sitcom, Naked in a Fishbowl, returns to The Cherry Lane Theater. Opening Monday, October 17th and running through December 5th (dark November 28), Fishbowl will debut seven new outrageous 1-hour shows.



“In response to the increase in popularity of the NAKED IN A FISHBOWL live show and web series, we are expanding our production team and creative team in addition to offering new improv workshops specifically designed for women,” says Donna DeStefano, Producer.



They recently added two new women to the Fishbowl – the four-time Emmy® winning Buboo Kakati as Production Manager and Director Erica Gould with over 40 productions and workshops to her credit. Fishbowl’s production team, now comprised of fourteen women, is working to foster the growth of additional strong and confident women in the comedy world. Using their distinctive brand of comedy that relies on strengths and traits unique to women, they have developed and are now offering an Improv Workshop Series specifically designed for women, starting October 29th. Fully improvised and filmed live, Naked in a Fishbowl chronicles the lives of six women in New York City with hilarious, startling, and bare-naked honesty. Fishbowl premiered at the NY International Fringe Festival in 2007. The cast was presented with the Outstanding Ensemble Award and hailed as the “brightest lights of the festival.” Since re-launching in 2010, this all- female comedy troupe has delivered “knockout” performances that WCBS calls “Smart, honest, and definitely fearless.” They have created over 50 original episodes in front of a live theatre audience. The resulting web series has garnered over 400,000 hits online and is watched in over 80 countries. The company recently returned from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where they created six brand new episodes in six days and were listed among the “Best of the Fest.”



Situated in a landmark building in Greenwich Village, The Cherry Lane Theatre serves as a vital lab for the development of new American works and a home for groundbreaking productions of both new and classic theater of the highest caliber.
